Test Tile Study Boards

I have really been concentrating on trying to come up with: 1) good browns, 2) good color combinations for my zia plates, etc. 3) aqua type colors that David seems to like.
David will someday have a new set of dishes for his condo, starting now with his cups. I had to go into my archives for a glaze he liked. But when I tested it, it was too dark. So I mixed another small batch and left out the Chromium Oxide, which was only 1/2 of 1% of the total batch, and this looked a lot better on the test tile. Now I have a couple of cups ready to be fired to see if it still looks good on something larger. I am putting a different glaze on the outside of each cup to try to find a good combination.
Since I am doing so much experimental glazing, I am using my small kiln so that I can find out the results quickly. When I open my kiln, it is like opening a present: I'm not sure what I will get. And more often than not, I get some very pleasant surprises.
